Wild Training Camp

February saw the return of our combined training camps with the development squad! British Rowing had something different up their sleeves for this one. The plan was to imitate our usual Spain training camp but with a difference. Whilst the mornings were spent the usual way – completing an ergo or handbike. The afternoons were spent training over at Wild Gym, Marlow which if you are ever in the area, I thoroughly recommend checking out.

James and his coaches had designed a week like nothing I’ve had before, we tried Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Aerial Silks, Strong Man and Circus weights, but more importantly we had a great time doing it! It is good every now and again to vary up your training because you will never know what you find that will benefit you going forward.

I have taken two things away from this training camp which I will continue to use to aid my rowing:

Indian Club work for shoulder conditioning and BJJ floor workto help activate whatever core I can!

Go check out @wildptjamesg on Instagram for a better description and understanding of why!
